About Us

Cape Winelands Hotels isn't just a run of the mill online booking portal. Instead, it's focused on supporting the ‘little guys', something that many online portals forget to do. Bed and Breakfasts, Guest Houses and Backpackers make up a huge chunk of the industry, yet they really struggle to market themselves, and that's where we step in. You know, this is the only site where you can actually book township properties in the Cape Town area!

The team is led by Jodi and Zack. Originally from the USA, they made a fateful trip to Cape Town a few years back and their lives were changed forever. One thing about Cape Town, is that it knows how to impress.... by the time Jodi and Zack were scheduled to fly home- the decision to move to the Mother City had already been made.

This giant leap of faith went hand in hand with the launch of their whl.travel site for Cape Town. Then they hired some staff to help manage the growing business and then moved out of the home office into proper facilities with a view of gorgeous Table Mountain.  They then decided to open this second site in the Cape Winelands - providing booking services for hotels in Stellenbosch, guesthouses in Wellington, Paarl B&Bs, and Franschhoek accommodations.  

Jennifer joined the team back in Dec. 2006. Jennifer was born and raised in Cape Town and knows her way around like a true local. Active and sporty, Jennifer has run in several 2 Oceans Half Marathons and participates in the Cape Argus every year! Zack and Jodi are our resident rock climbers. With a distinct inability to deal with heights, Jen, who helps to run the site, focuses her attention on the lower altitude sports of surfing, cycling and trail running. But don't be fooled, we have a cultural side too! There isn't a theatre or festival in the Cape that we haven't been to. If you are in need of recommendations, just ask.

It's also important to keep in mind, despite being one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, the Western Cape and South Africa overall faces a slew of issues that affect the quality of life of its local population. Problems range from the devastation caused by HIV/AIDS and poverty, to the problematic water and electrical shortages that plague the Cape. So, we at whl.travel and at Cape Town and Cape Winelands Hotels have pledged its support to sustainable tourism. 

Besides what social and economic sustainability work we are doing with the Historically Disadvantaged Enterprise owners as well as what we do for the 'little' guys, we are also trying to keep our environmental impact as low or neutral as possible. Our first step was to limit waste within our own office: We don't print things unless we really need to, we always switch appliances and lights off when we are not using them and we limit unnecessary commuting by working from home whenever possible. We have recently developed a partnership with Oasis Association. They are an organisation that collects all of your recyclable waste free and charge. All proceeds from the recycled goods help to support men and women who suffer from an intellectual disability. For more information on Oasis Recyling visit their website.
