This festival dates its history back in the Spanish era wherein the daughter of a datu, the ruler during that time, was healed miraculously. It was also believed that the statue of the Sto. Niño is the only one that did not get burned during a fire in that town. That is why up to this day, the Sinulog festival is celebrated by thousands of devotees all over the world.
