There are a number of ways to get around the Cape, including taxis, rikkis, trains, minibuses and shuttles and buses. Having said that, for those planning to venture deep into the Cape Winelands, we would recommend hiring a car. If on the other hand, you'd like to travel with a group, there are numerous shuttles and tour services that can cater for your every need. There are 2 long distance rail services that operate out of Cape Town. There is one that runs from Durban (via Pietermaritzburg, Bloemfontein and Kimberley) weekly, as well as a daily operation to Johannesburg (via Kimberley). Once you are in Cape Town, the ‘Metrorail' runs services around the city and surrounding areas.
